The Mahratta Residence was a project defined by balance—between existing treasures and new additions, art and architecture, function and feeling.
The owners’ art collection was central to the design brief, calling for a neutral and elegant backdrop to allow the works to shine. We responded with a palette of soft, understated tones, including neutral wall colours and customwindow dressings, which provided a serene foundation throughout the home.
Rather than starting from scratch, we revitalised selected existing furniture pieces, blending them seamlessly with carefully sourced new pieces. In the living areas, this included a new dining table, breakfast table, dining chairs, cushions, and light fittings—each chosen to subtly elevate the space without overpowering it.
In the bedrooms, the transformation was achieved through a thoughtful layering of new bedheads, bedside tables, table lamps, chest of drawers, cushions, and soft furnishings, creating comfortable yet refined private spaces.
The end result is a home that feels calm, cohesive, and timeless—an effortless blend of old and new, curated to celebrate the art and soul of its residents.
